Atlanta Braves took another hit on injury front and placed left-hander on 15-day injured list

The Atlanta Braves suffered another injury, placing left-hander A.J. Minter on the 15-day injured list.

The reliever is battling soreness in his left hip.

A.J. Minter’s hip has been bothering him a while and the #Braves didn’t think it was something that would heal with just 2-3 days of not pitching him. So they IL’d him. Hope is he’ll be ready after 15 days but they won’t know that for some time.

Minter’s most recent appearance came on Wednesday night against the Washington Nationals, when he pitched a scoreless inning. In comparison to last season, he has been less effective, although he has still generated some promising outcomes. His absence will be felt severely, as Atlanta currently has only two southpaws in its bullpen.

Right-handed Jimmy Herget was recalled to Atlanta. Herget has had a busy season so far, having been optioned to Gwinnett on Wednesday. Now he returns to replace the injured Minter.

In the final flurry of roster movements, the Braves announced that infielder Joey Wendle has elected free agency after being outrighted.

Ronald Acuña Jr. will have ACL surgery on Tuesday. Dr. Neal ElAttrache will perform his treatment, like he did in 2021.

The Braves lost the series finale against the Washington Nationals, 3-1. Atlanta will next host the A’s.
