This offseason, the Houston Astros and Atlanta Braves could make a blockbuster trade.

The Houston Astros are facing a backlash for how they handled star outfielder Kyle Tucker’s injury. Tucker has been rumored to have a fractured shin following a lengthy absence.

Initially, the Astros medical team diagnosed him with a shin contusion. They could hardly have been more mistaken. Could their misdiagnosis prompt Tucker to contemplate leaving the team?

Missing so badly on an injury is a horrible picture for Houston. Tucker has every right to lose faith in the company if they actually misdiagnosed him.

All that being said, if he decides to push his way out, where may he wind up?

According to Zach Presnell of FanSided, the Atlanta Braves could be a suitable trade partner for Tucker this winter.

“Looking at a trade for Kyle Tucker is tough because he would only force himself out of Houston to be on another powerhouse. His situation, to this point, has been solid with the Astros, so for him to want to go elsewhere, he would need to be in a winning environment. The Atlanta Braves are the perfect landing place for a talent like his. They have the need out there, especially until Ronald Acuña Jr. makes his return from his second ACL tear at some point next year. Besides Acuña, this team has struggled all season long, for their high standards anyway. A huge move like this could be what the front office looks to do, especially if the entire season falls apart and they end up first round exits in the postseason.”

Tucker played 60 games with the Astros during the 2024 MLB season. He has hit 19 home runs and 40 RBIs while hitting.266/.395/.584.

Those stats would be a huge boost for the Braves. Even if Acuna returns, Tucker will be an important ingredient in Atlanta’s return to World Series contention.

Clearly, this is all supposition. Tucker might end up wanting to stay with Houston. No one could blame him if he decided to make a fresh start.

Expect to hear a lot of whispers about the Astros and Tucker as the offseason approaches. A trade could be on the table.
