The Atlanta Braves have returned three-time All-Star second baseman Ozzie Albies from his rehabilitation assignment and reinstated him from the injured list ahead of Friday’s series opening against the Miami Marlins.

Albies has been out since July 21, when he fractured his wrist in the Braves’ 6-2 loss to the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. He was attempting to field a throw at second base during a stolen base attempt when he collided with Cardinals outfielder Michael Siani.

He is batting.In 90 games this season, he has 258 hits, eight home runs, and 46 RBIs.

Albies, 27, has been a vital member for the Braves since making his major league debut in 2017. He has hit more than 20 homers four times, including a career-high 33 last season. He has reached 100 RBIs twice and 100 runs three times.

Also on Friday, the Braves optioned infielder Cavan Biggio to Triple-A Gwinnett.

Biggio, 29, is 1-for-5 in four games for the Braves this season. He has also appeared for the Toronto Blue Jays and the Los Angeles Dodgers this season.

In 2019, the son of Hall of Famer Craig Biggio showed potential as a rookie, hitting 16 home runs, 48 RBIs, and 14 steals in 100 games for the Blue Jays. He finished fifth in the American League Rookie of the Year voting.

However, he has never reached double digits in home runs or had more than 70 hits in a single season. Biggio has a.225 lifetime batting average, 51 home runs, and 186 RBIs in 524 games.
