Aston Villa ‘monitoring’ one of hottest prospects outside the Premier League

Aston Villa is one of several Premier League teams reportedly “monitoring” the development of Norwich City’s Jonathan Rowe, one of the hottest talents outside the top division this season.

The 20-year-old is quickly establishing a reputation as one of the most exciting young talents in the Championship after scoring seven goals in 13 games for the Canaries so far this season. His most recent strike earned the club a point in the 1-1 draw with Coventry City before the international break.

Rowe backed up his club performance from the previous week when he made his debut for the England U21s, scoring just minutes after coming off the bench in a 9-1 victory over Serbia.

The Daily Mail reports that Unai Emery’s Villa and Crystal Palace are among the Premier League clubs reportedly keeping an eye on his growth ahead of the upcoming two transfer windows due to his performances.

Rowe’s current contract at Carrow Road has an expiration date of just over 18 months, but there is a provision to extend it by an additional year. To secure their asset and to reward the attacker for his efforts, the Canaries are obviously eager to sign Rowe to a longer deal.

The report states that negotiations for a new agreement are “understood to be underway, but at an early stage.” However, it is alleged that the increased interest from top-flight teams would make Norwich’s attempts to persuade Rowe to sign new terms more difficult.

Rowe participated in the Premier League’s 2021/22 relegation campaign for Norwich, making 13 games. Due to an ankle injury last term, his progress was hampered, but this term he is back to his best.

I really like him, according to Lee Carsley, the head coach of England Under-21. Along with Jaden Philogene, an ex-starlet of the Villa, he is a player who is on fire.

They are full of confidence, which gives players who aren’t on the England teams a little bit of hope because of our extensive recruiting and scouting. There are no unobserved players. Jonathan Rowe and Norwich can both be proud of the fact that he has now emerged in a different manner.

“They gave him a chance to play, and he did a good job. He has left me deeply impressed.”
