Nottingham Forest almost completed an exciting free transfer in 2022, but that player may now join Arsenal after the Garibaldi failed to sign him.

Despite a few failed efforts, such as the deal to capture Jonjo Shelvey, those at the City Ground have frequently been barking up the correct tree in terms of recruitment, with Chelsea currently chasing Alvaro Valles, whom Nottingham Forest bid for in January.

A player who was almost bought for free by Nottingham Forest in 2022 might now join Arsenal for more than £20 million.

Ferdi Kadioglu could join Arsenal after 2022 Nottingham Forest offer

According to a Takvim report from January 2022, Nottingham Forest made a contract offer to Ferdi Kadioglu just months before his tenure with Fenerbahce expired.

The Turkey international was rumored to be interested in a move to the Premier League, and his agency even traveled to England for talks – but despite Nottingham Forest’s promotion that season, he chose to remain with Fenerbahce.

According to Sabah in Turkey, Arsenal are preparing a £21.2 million bid to sign Kadioglu, who has taken his talents to new heights at Fenerbahce over the past two years.

The Turkish news outlet even believe the Gunners have already seen a £17m offer rejected.

North London rivals could annoy Nottingham Forest this summer

Tottenham, Arsenal’s north London rivals, appear to have the potential to frustrate Nottingham Forest this summer.

Spurs are preparing a large bid to capture Callum Hudson-Odoi, but Ange Postecoglou’s team is also interested in Morgan Gibbs-White, so a double deal is not out of the question.

In addition, The Athletic reports that Tottenham is keeping an eye on Murillo following his outstanding 2023–2024 season.

Spurs may therefore prove to be a pain in Nottingham Forest’s side come summertime.
