Arkansas player plans to visit Oklahoma State this week

Davonte Davis committed to Oklahoma State in 2018, but switched to Arkansas before signing in the autumn of 2019.

This week, Steve Lutz and Oklahoma State could welcome a high-profile SEC transfer.

Arkansas combo guard Davonte Davis will visit Oklahoma State “sometime this week,” according to CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein.

Davis, a native of Jacksonville, Arkansas, had an up and down career in Fayetteville. Over 30 games this season, he averaged 5.9 points on a career-low 36.3% shooting, 3.4 rebounds, and 2 assists.

Davis was nominated to the SEC All-Defensive team in 2022-23 after recording 48 steals and 10.9 points per game.

As a freshman in the 2021 Sweet 16 against Oral Roberts, Davis’ game-winning shot with four seconds left sent Arkansas to its first Elite Eight participation since 1995.

On December 2, 2018, the 6-foot-4, 185-pound guard committed to Oklahoma State and former head coach Mike Boynton. He then decommitted and signed with Arkansas in 2019.

“I love Devo Davis,” Boynton remarked in 2021, just before Oklahoma State visited Arkansas in the Big 12/SEC Challenge. “He is one of the guys I enjoyed recruiting the most since he is so humble. To be completely honest, I’m not sure if Devo thought he was as good as I did. I’m satisfied if he’s happy at the end of the day. We are not going to acquire every recruit, and we will lose some more. But he appears to be enjoying success over there.”

Oklahoma State has failed to receive a transfer commitment since Steve Lutz was named head coach on April 1, but they have extended offers. Right now, the Cowboys have four players on the transfer portal.
