Anthony Richardson explains why he believes the NFL is easier than college football

Moving from college football to the NFL is often a significant increase in challenge for players, particularly quarterbacks.

However, Anthony Richardson, the Indianapolis Colts’ quarterback, does not appear to agree.

In an appearance on the “Club 520 Podcast,” Richardson stated that playing in the NFL was easier than playing in college. His explanation is that collegiate players lack the confidence and determination of professional athletes, forcing Richardson to carry more of the load.

“Playing in the NFL feels easier than college,” Richardson remarked. “In college, you have athletes that are good, and they are aware of their abilities, but they lack confidence. They had to rely on other players to perform this so they could do that. Everyone in the league is working hard to stay in the league and keep their jobs while still attempting to ball out. That basically tells me I don’t have to do too much. I’m going to do my job, he’s going to do his, and everything will work out.”

Richardson is correct that the cream of the crop plays in the NFL, and his talent players are superior to anything he has faced before. On the other hand, the same is true for the teams he plays against. However, Richardson has done both, so he is somewhat qualified to pass judgment.

Richardson showed tremendous promise as a rookie in four games before his season was cut short due to a shoulder injury. That shoulder is still a small issue, but he should be OK for the season, when he will have the opportunity to prove his argument.
