Another Rams Assistants to Interview for Offensive Coordinator Position

Sean McVay is no stranger to seeing his Los Angeles Rams assistants leave for other opportunities, and this offseason has been no different.

McVay and the Rams have already lost two assistants, with defensive coordinator Raheem Morris going to coach the Atlanta Falcons and quarterbacks coach Zac Robinson joining him to be the team’s offensive coordinator.

Other assistants, such as tight ends coach Nick Caley, may soon follow suit, as they have applied for jobs elsewhere. Another assistant has joined the ever-growing list of interview candidates, according to NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo. Pass game specialist Jake Peetz will interview for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ offensive coordinator position.

Peetz, 39, was elevated to pass game specialist last summer after spending the previous year as an offensive coach. Under his leadership, the Rams’ aerial offense improved substantially, rising from 27th in passing yards last season to 10th this season.

Having a fairly healthy Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp, as well as an exceptional season from Puka Nacua, undoubtedly helped, but the improvement was significant.

Peetz also has over a decade of NFL coaching experience. Aside from the Rams, he has coached the Jacksonville Jaguars, Washington Commanders, Las Vegas Raiders, and Carolina Panthers, serving as quarterbacks coach for the last two.

Before coming to L.A., Peetz was the offensive coordinator for the LSU Tigers in 2021. Meanwhile, the Buccaneers are looking for a new offensive coordinator after Dave Canales departed to become the Panthers’ new head coach earlier this week.

They had previously wanted to talk with Robinson about the same position, but were unable to interview him before he accepted the Falcons offer.

McVay’s staff will already be very different next season, but if Peetz quits as well, the Rams will have one more post to fill.
