Analyzing Boston Bruins’ preseason opponents in 2024

Now that we know who the Boston Bruins will face this season, it’s time to analyze their opponents, starting with the preseason.

The Boston Bruins will begin their 2024-25 season on September 22nd, with an entertaining slate of seven preseason games against four different teams. The first will be against one of the NHL’s finest teams last season, the New York Rangers, at 5 p.m. on September 22nd.

While the Rangers and Bruins are unlikely to bring their best players to this game, it could provide an opportunity for fans to witness some of the more periphery players in action. That being said, the Bruins and Rangers will face off again on September 26th in New York at 7 p.m., and this game should provide a better taste of what to anticipate in a regular season in which both clubs should be among the most competitive in the Eastern Conference.

The Bruins will face the Washington Capitals on September 24th and October 5th at 7 PM and 5 PM, respectively, with the 24th game being played at home and the preseason finale on the road. We know the Capitals were a “just happy to be there” playoff club last season, but that shouldn’t be the case in 2024-25. Expect the Bruins to face one of the “new-look” Capitals’ finest teams in one of these two games.

Boston Bruins will see some intriguing opponents in the 2024 preseason

The Bruins’ tour against the Metropolitan Division will continue with back-to-back preseason games against the Philadelphia Flyers on September 28th on the road and October 1st at home, both at 7 p.m. Philadelphia was almost that final playoff team last year, and we don’t know what to anticipate from them this season, but the Bruins will probably get a solid indication in one of these two games.

Boston will also face the Los Angeles Kings at a neutral venue on October 3rd at 7 p.m., with LA hoping to improve its consistency in 2024-25. Last season, the Kings finished third in the Pacific, but not without a coaching change and some significant highs and lows.

Overall, we’re watching the Bruins take a brief tour of the Metropolitan Division, which includes a great team in the Rangers, a team that made a lot of moves in the offseason in the Washington Capitals, and a potential up-and-coming organization in Philadelphia.
