Analyst assesses Michigan RB prospect to two active players in the NFL

The 2024 NFL Draft is stacked with talent at a few key positions, but running back is not one of them.

The quarterback, offensive tackle, and wide receiver classes are being lauded for their depth and top-tier talent, but fans aren’t hearing much about when some of the biggest names in running back will be available, particularly a certain National Champion who is beginning to fly under the radar.

During an interview on the Ross Tucker Podcast, Greg Cosell mentioned two potential analogies for Michigan running back Blake Corum.”Devin Singletary and Kyren Williams.”

Cosell also heaped praise on Corum for “understanding his blocking scheme, for understanding how gaps change when the ball is snapped, for understanding defensive flow.”

He emphasized that these characteristics are innate and difficult to acquire, and that they compensate for part of Corum’s inferior athleticism.

Corum had a remarkable four-year Wolverine career and has been an incredible workaholic in recent years.

The running back had 1,463 and 1,245 yards the previous two seasons, respectively, and has 58 rushing touchdowns in his career.

In 2023, he scored at least one touchdown in every game, including two in each of the postseason games on his way to the National Championship.

At the NFL Combine, Corum measured 5’8″ and 205 pounds and ran a 4.53 40-yard dash, which is not ideal for a running back of his size.

Corum is presently predicted as a Day 2 choice, but he might fall to Day 3 if other more athletic running backs outperform him between now and the draft.
