A South Korean football specialist believes Paik Seung-ho will infuse Birmingham City’s midfield with inventiveness and adaptability.

The midfielder, who is presently with Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors of the K-League, has been strongly linked to joining Blues in January.Despite interest from elite French and German teams, the Korean tabloid Sports Donga believes Blues are close to signing Paik to a contract that would last until 2026.

Prior to going back home in 2021, Paik lived and worked in Germany and Spain for a significant portion of his career. Sungmo Lee, a Korean football journalist, thinks Paik would thrive in the hectic environment of English football.

Lee told BirminghamLive, “He definitely has fantastic talents and technique to play in England.””He played in German and Spanish competitions before honing his athletic skills in the K-League. I think football fans in Birmingham and England should keep an eye on him.

“He still has the potential to be a regular midfield player for the Korea national team, and the supporters there have extremely high expectations for him. He is still young, having played in Germany, Spain, and now England. If he performs well there, he might emerge as the next captain of the Korea national team’s midfield.

The Blues added André Dozzell from Queens Park Rangers earlier in the January transfer window, so Paik would be their second midfield signing. It is no secret that Blues’ manager Tony Mowbray seeks talented midfielders who can play cutting forward passes to release the team’s attacking ace.

Paik is the supply line for Premier League attackers Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan for South Korea, who have awarded him 15 caps. “He is creative, adaptable, and has excellent passing ability,” Lee continued. He is capable of playing several midfield positions, although his best position is center midfield or defensive midfield, where he can play a deep playmaking role.”
