An alleged insulting response to Roman Wilson of Michigan was posted by an assistant coach at Ohio State

Following the Wolverines’ 30–24 victory over the Buckeyes on Saturday, Michigan receiver Roman Wilson said that Ohio State “acts hard” and is “not tough.” This comment touched a raw nerve.

Despite the loss, it is understandable that such comments could elicit a response from Ohio State players. But it seems that an assistant coach for the Buckeyes took offense at Wilson and made a derogatory social media reply.

The Michigan star’s intelligence and toughness were allegedly insulted by Tim Walton, an Ohio State secondary coach, in a comment made on an Instagram Live video of Wilson’s postgame remarks:

“Dude u sound stupid !” said the comment attributed to Walton. “U were not tough ! OBTW we took the ball from you on the INT and refs gave you a lucky call.”

Walton was referring to a second-quarter touchdown catch made by Wilson that was examined to see if the receiver was in possession of the ball when he hit the ground. Furthermore, during their struggle for the catch, Ohio State defensive back Denzel Burke tore the ball away from Wilson.

Viewers took offense when Fox analyst Joel Klatt questioned if Wilson made a catch. Wilson eventually crossed the goal line, giving Michigan its second touchdown of the game, and the officials ultimately decided that Wilson did, in fact, have control.

Even if Wilson’s controversial postgame remarks infuriated the players and Ohio State questioned the touchdown, a coach labeling an opponent’s player as “stupid” presents a terrible, unprofessional image for someone who is supposed to be a teacher and leader.

It’s reasonable to doubt Walton’s statement’s veracity. However, Tanner Wooten, who captured the comment on screen, later posted something that seemed to link it to Walton’s Instagram account.
