Amon-Ra St. Brown Furious After NFC Pro Bowl Snub

During Thursday’s practice, Amon-Ra St. Brown addressed the media from his locker room stall, expressing his disappointment.

The Detroit Lions’ top wide receiver admitted he was “hot” over not being chosen as an original Pro Bowl selection.

CeeDee Lamb of Dallas, Mike Evans of Tampa Bay, A.J. Brown of Philadelphia, and Puka Nacua of the Los Angeles Rams were among the NFC’s Pro Bowl wide receiver selections. Despite appreciating their talent, St. Brown expressed disappointment with the omission.

St. Brown has had an outstanding season, tying him for the league lead with eight 100-yard receiving games. He has 112 receptions, 1,371 yards, and 10 touchdowns for the Lions, who won their first division title since 1993 with an 11-5 record.

St. Brown’s 112 receptions this season tie him for second in the NFL and are the third-most for a Lions player in a season, trailing only Herman Moore (123 in 1995) and Calvin Johnson (122 in 2012). Despite his outstanding accomplishment, St. Brown demonstrated a desire to do more.

St. Brown congratulated his Lions teammates on their Pro Bowl selections, which included Sam LaPorta, Frank Ragnow, Aidan Hutchinson, Penei Sewell, and Jalen Reeves-Maybin (special teams). Hutchinson, in particular, called his Pro Bowl selection “amazing” and stressed the importance of the forthcoming playoff run.

As a first alternate, St. Brown remains confident about making the Pro Bowl, particularly if the Lions do not go to the Super Bowl. The 2021 fourth-round pick, who recalls all 16 receivers picked ahead of him at No. 112, sees the snub as motivation to work even harder.

“Yeah, gotta go harder,” St. Brown proclaimed, intending to use his rejection from the Pro Bowl as fuel for his competitive fire.
