Alex Pritchard’s Birmingham City misery might be set to end

Alex Pritchard may depart Birmingham City after a nightmarish five months in the second city.

Alex Pritchard is allegedly in talks with Turkish club Sivasspor about leaving Birmingham City soon.

According to the Telegraph, Pritchard, 31, is expected to leave the Blues just five months after coming from Sunderland. Sivasspor were one of the clubs interested in Pritchard during the January transfer window, before Tony Mowbray took him to the Blues.

Mowbray was determined to sign Pritchard after working with him at Sunderland, and he signed the midfielder to a two-and-a-half-year contract. Pritchard played only one Blues game for Mowbray due to a calf ailment.

The former Norwich City and Huddersfield playmaker made only three starts for the Blues, with six more coming off the bench, during a stint marred by injuries and form.

The Blues’ team is lacking in several areas, but new manager Chris Davies has several choices in the offensive midfield spots where Pritchard plays. Juninho Bacuna, Koji Miyoshi, Siriki Dembele, George Hall, Tyler Roberts, and Romelle Donovan can all play in that part of the field.

If Pritchard departs, he will become the 11th senior player to leave the club since the end of the previous season. Neil Etheridge, Marc Roberts, Ivan Sunjic, Gary Gardner, and Scott Hogan were released by the Blues, while five loan players returned to their parent clubs.
