Alabama’s strength coach has players set for…

In 2020, Nick Saban made a game-changing appointment when he fired Scott Cochran and appointed David Ballou as Alabama’s new strength coach.

Ballou, the Director of Sports Performance, guided Alabama to a College Football Playoff National Championship in 2020 and holds three Southeastern Conference Championship rings. His weight-room wisdom and skill lead Alabama to an SEC Championship this season, as the Tide destroyed Georgia up front. Alabama is back in the College Football Playoff, and while Nick Saban’s staff is out recruiting, Ballou is at the facilities getting everyone ready for the Rose Bowl against Michigan.

On Friday, Coach Saban praised Ballou’s impact on the Pat McAfee Show.

“These two weeks has gotten some players back to where they need to be so it’s been good.. Our strength guy here David Ballou does a fantastic job and players relate to him” Coach Saban #PMSLive

“Everything is good,” Saban said about the weight room report on Alabama’s players.

“There is a lot of equipment now that can track a guy’s explosive movement and speed. We’ve got catapults on everyone. We can tell if a guy is losing speed and if his explosive power and strength are maintaining where they should be. So we have a baseline for each player, and the last two weeks have gotten certain players back to where they need to be, which has been beneficial. They’ve got a wonderful attitude and worked hard, and our strength coach here, David Ballou, does an excellent job and players relate to him. That, I believe, is critical when they have to figure out on their own.”

Ballou and his team are in the right frame of mind. Michigan wants to pound the ball and control the game against Alabama, but Ballou has assembled a team that is willing to get tough.

New Year’s Day cannot get here fast enough for the Rose Bowl.
