Alabama RB expresses strong feelings after CFP loss against Michigan

Alabama football’s season came to an end on Monday with an overtime loss in the Rose Bowl.

Alabama football’s season ended on Monday with a 27-20 overtime loss to Michigan in a College Football Playoff quarterfinal. Despite trailing late, the Crimson Tide gave up the game-tying score with less than two minutes remaining in regulation before succumbing in the first OT.

As Alabama football head coach Nick Saban called the season as “one of the most amazing” in school history, some Crimson Tide players are already looking ahead to 2024. This included Alabama freshman running back Justice Haynes, who provided a spark in the second half of the team’s Rose Bowl loss.

“I think our future is very bright,” Haynes stated, according to TideIllustrated. “We’re all going to work, and we’re going to burn it.” We’ll remember this during the offseason when we’re working. We’ll remember this, and we’ll be back.”

Haynes, a reserve all season, carried for 31 yards on four carries against the nation’s finest defense. Prior to the Rose Bowl, Michigan limited opponents to less than three yards per carry. Alabama averaged four yards per running attempt.

Haynes, one of the best running back recruits in the class of 2023, wowed the Alabama coaching staff despite seeing limited playing time this season. He played in six games, rushing for 168 yards on 25 attempts and scoring two touchdowns.

Haynes has an opportunity to make an impact for Alabama football in 2024, with seniors Jase McClellan and Roydell Williams likely on their way out. He has earned the right to more carries, but don’t be surprised if Justice Haynes takes over as the Crimson Tide’s main running back sometime next season.
