Alabama Lands Another Elite Pass-Rusher

Over the weekend, the Crimson Tide added another big-time edge player to the consensus No. 1 recruiting class for next year.

It would have been a momentous occasion for any high school football player. Cocoa High School returned to the Class 2S state championship game in Florida, where it defeated previously undefeated Bradford, 20-6.

But defensive end/pass rusher Javion Hilson decided to make it a little bigger when he later pledged to play for the Alabama Crimson Tide and Nick Saban on social media.

He is the ninth player in Alabama’s recruiting Class of 2025, which is the early frontrunner in various services’ early team rankings. Zion Grady of Troy, Alabama, is another elite pass-rusher on the team.

A 6-foot-4, 225-pound junior, he is regarded as one of the best edge rushers in the country and has become a defensive mainstay for the Crimson Tide. Will Anderson Jr., Dallas Turner, and Chris Braswell have recently joined the roster.

Jihaad Campbell and Jeremiah Alexander were the consensus No. 1 and 5 pass-rushers in 2022, respectively, and in 2023 it added Keon Keeley and Yhonzae Pierre, who were rated first and fourth, respectively, as well as Qua Russaw.

All of those players could be vital to Alabama’s defense next season. Sterling Dixon of Spanish Fort, Alabama, is among the Class of 2024, which can sign early beginning on December 20.
