Alabama is trying to sign new offensive line coach

Alabama has hired its second offensive line coach of the offseason, with Baylor’s Chris Kapilovic set to join Kalen DeBoer’s staff, according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel.

Sources: Chris Kapilovic, the offensive line coach at Baylor, is scheduled to be hired by Alabama. He is an experienced offensive line coach who has worked at Colorado, Michigan State, and North Carolina.

The Crimson Tide were looking for an offensive line coach after Scott Huff and offensive coordinator Ryan Grubb left to join the Seattle Seahawks. These losses eventually caused DeBoer to promote tight ends coach Nick Sheridan to be the new offensive play caller, with Kapilovic taking over the line.

Kapilovic adds almost 30 years of coaching experience to DeBoer’s staff, with his most recent success coming at Michigan State where he was the offensive line coach and running game coordinator from 2020 to 2023. During that time, he helped lead one of the nation’s best rushing attacks, preparing the way for running back Kenneth Walker to win the Doak Walker Award in 2021.
