Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer shares insights into the continued development of quarterback-receiver chemistry

On Saturday, Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer shed light on the road of developing a cohesive offensive unit during the spring football season in a revealing talk about the evolving camaraderie between the quarterback and wide receiver rooms.

According to DeBoer, achieving a smooth connection on the field is anything but easy in the middle of roster changes and a new offensive setup.

“It’s been really interesting and I think that area I see kind of ebbs and flows,” DeBoer said in an interview. “Some of it has to do with the middle of spring ball, when you see the rhythm developing and them hitting some routes and you’re like, ‘Wow, we’re getting there quickly.'” Then you see the defense do a nice job reacting to the things that our offense is starting to do well — which is what they should, right — and the trends, and you take a lot of snaps against one another.”

As the defense adjusted to the offensive plans, obstacles arose. DeBoer believes that this back-and-forth is an important part of development since it keeps the squad adaptive.

“The offense makes some adjustments and what you do in a game,” DeBoer went on to say. “We don’t have anything installed, so you work on whatever you scripted that day.” I can’t say there are enormous highs and lows, which is good. I believe there is a continuous ‘continue to go forward’ at the end of each week.

Highlighting the recent progress, DeBoer shared his encouragement for the team’s overall ability to bounce back and refine their approach.
