Alabama fans express their bitter feelings over award denial – Opinion

Alabama fans are now dissatisfied with two national award organizations.

JK Scott, a former Alabama punter, never received the Ray Guy Award.

Scott was one of college football’s most exceptional specialists, but he graduated from the University of Alabama without being named the nation’s best punter. Fans of the Crimson Tide were disappointed that Scott did not receive the Ray Guy Award, but their feelings were heightened on Friday after witnessing what happened to Will Reichard at the ESPN College Football Awards Show.

Reichard was a finalist for the Lou Groza Award, which is given to the best kicker in the country. With 539 career points, he is the NCAA’s all-time leading scorer. The fifth-year senior demonstrated the ability to make kicks (20-for-23), extra points (53-for-53), kickoffs (47 touchbacks on 82 attempts), and punts (four attempts for 165 yards, 41.3 yards per punt).

The award went to Graham Nicholson of the University of Miami at Ohio, and Tide fans are upset with the Palm Beach County Sports Commission. They took to social media to vent about the organization after Reichard was passed over.
