Anquin Barnes is on his way west. On Sunday night, the former Alabama football defensive lineman announced his move to Colorado.

Barnes will work with Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders in his second season. Charles Kelly, Colorado’s defensive coordinator, was at the Crimson Tide during Barnes’ pledge and his two seasons. Alabama lost two of its 21 incoming transfers in 2023 (Jahquez Robinson and Demouy Kennedy).

Barnes, who entered the portal on December 11, tweeted out offers from Wisconsin and South Carolina, among others.Barnes played in two games over three seasons, recording one tackle. Barnes was a four-star defensive and offensive lineman from Montgomery in the class of 2021.

Barnes is the third Alabama player whose plans for next season appear to be determined, joining Ja’Corey Brooks (Louisville) and Tyler Buchner (Notre Dame – lacrosse).

Alabama held their first practice for the College Football Playoff Semifinal at the Rose Bowl on Sunday. The Crimson Tide will face Michigan without Barnes, Brooks, and Isaiah Hastings. The game is scheduled for New Year’s Day at 4 p.m. CT in Pasadena, California.
