Alabama cut out of top four for ex 4-star offensive line commit

Mason Short released his top four schools on Friday, leaving Alabama football out following repeated coaching changes in Tuscaloosa.

Short is a four-star offensive guard from Evans High School. He was a former Alabama commit who decommitted immediately after Nick Saban announced his retirement. With Alabama on the outside looking in on Short’s recruitment, Clemson, Georgia, Kentucky, and Ohio State are his top four choices.

The Crimson Tide’s new coaching staff, led by Kalen DeBoer, appeared to be making a concerted effort to establish a relationship with Short, visiting him while on the road recruiting.

It is vital to note that Scott Huff, the Tide’s offensive line coach, attended those trips. He left the program following a brief stint as the Seahawks’ offensive line coach.

Alabama’s coaching still has a lengthy list of 2025 offensive linemen to pursue, and Short does not see them as a top school for him right now.
