Alabama’s 4-star freshman advantage Rusher is hard at work in preparation for spring camp.

Alabama football’s 2021 recruiting class includes four former 5-stars — Dallas Turner, JC Latham, Kool-Aid McKinstry, and Terrion Arnold — who will enter the NFL Draft without a national championship ring.

It marks the first time in Nick Saban’s tenure that a recruiting class has failed to secure a national championship. During early signing day, the Crimson Tide drew in a good group of prospects. Coach Saban expects his 2024 class to have an effect. Some names may have to emerge early in order for next year’s team to win the College Football Playoff national championship.

One name has begun to rise to the occasion.

Before spring practice, Jayshawn Ross, a four-star edge rusher from Kansas City, Mo., is working out in the weight room.

In his senior year at Liberty North High School, he was an outstanding athlete. In 2023, the 6-foot-4, 220 pounder had 23 tackles, 11 tackles for loss, and eight sacks. He also had 12 receptions for 254 yards and four touchdowns. Ross has the potential to be a talented defensive player as an outside linebacker. He posted an Instagram snapshot of himself looking cut up and ready to contribute.

We’ll see how far he progresses in the 4th Quarter Program and spring practice.
