Ahead of Burnley’s match against Crystal Palace, Vincent Kompany offers an injury update

Tomorrow’s match between Burnley and Crystal Palace will be missed by Lyle Foster, who could not even be available until after the international break.

Due to illness, the striker has missed the last two matches, one against Everton and the other against Bournemouth.

Giving an update on Foster’s condition this morning, Kompany disclosed that his leading scorer is probably going to miss both the forthcoming trip to Arsenal and tomorrow’s match against Palace.

He stated, “At this time, there are still no signs of improvement.”

“I’m afraid he won’t be available before the international break, that’s about all I can say. It is an issue that needs to be resolved.

“I can’t talk about too much detail right now, but we can talk about it in more detail next week.”

Additionally, Kompany disclosed that Aaron Ramsey has been sidelined by Burnley’s matchday squads for some weeks due to an injury.

“He sensed something,” the Burnley manager remarked.

“They’re just picking up knocks and we’re picking up twists; they’re not your typical hamstring pulls and quads and this kind of thing.”

He is among the athletes who most likely won’t get better right away.

Josh Cullen, who received five yellow cards, will also be missing his first league match of the season tomorrow due to suspension. Manuel Benson and Michael Obafemi are still out.

“Lyle and the other players experience the same thing. You kind of expect that somebody else will assume the role and step up,” Kompany remarked.

“We have to deal with the fact that he isn’t there in the game.”

In a more encouraging development, Kompany acknowledged that Jordan Beyer might play against Palace tomorrow.

The center defender, who has been sidelined for the past month due to a knee injury, has resumed training.

Hjalmar Ekdal is recovering well from a related injury, but he isn’t yet ready to play again.

“Beyer is incredibly upbeat. He has been exercising consistently, according to Kompany.

“Ekdal is making progress slowly. I’m not sure if he’ll be ready for the international break’s conclusion, or if he’ll even be match fit, but things are headed in the right direction.

“It’s not like hamstring pulls or anything like that, so I can’t turn around and say we haven’t prepped them sufficiently for part of these unexpected accidents. Both Beyer and Ekdal experienced a twisting of the knee.

Naturally, that has an impact on our season, but more significantly, we’re recuperating them—ideally to a very high degree.
