After only 13 minutes of action under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool’s failure finds victory in Italy

Due to injuries, the former Liverpool loanee had a disappointing season in 2018.

Arthur Melo, a Liverpool failure, has achieved success after moving back to Italy after a disastrous stint on Merseyside.

He came to the Reds on a season-long loan from Juventus last summer in an effort to strengthen their back end while also reviving his own career, which had stalled due to many injuries.

He formerly started as a midfielder for Barcelona, but under Jurgen Klopp, he only saw 13 minutes of action, all of which came in the first round of last season’s Champions League loss to Napoli, which they lost 4-1.

He transferred to Fiorentina this summer on another full season loan, and as of right now, he’s happy there.

After shining in midfield for the Serie A giants, Melo was recently given the moniker “King Arthur” by the Italian media outlet Corriere dello Sport. To date, he has started nine of his 12 outings and contributed one assist.

In a recent interview, Arthur stated, “I’m at my best physically and mentally, I feel like I’ve never felt before.” And the Italian team is presently fourth in the standings after a stunning 3-1 away victory against the defending champions Napoli shortly before the international break.

It’s been quite the turnaround for Arthur, who boasts a 93% pass success rate in Serie A along with 1.8 tackles per game, 4.3 recoveries, and a 61% winning percentage in ground duels.

Speaking candidly about his time at Liverpool, he admitted it was really difficult because he had been eager to play in a different league. “I was really looking forward to playing in a different championship,” he added. “In a terrific team, everything was going really well, then in training, I hurt myself.

“It was challenging mentally, but you also learn. I can now look back and see how the injury had a purpose. I started focusing on my mental health, diet, rest, and sleep. Although that was unfortunate, it is now in the past.

To address their midfield problems, the Reds later signed Dominik Szoboszlai, Alexis Mac Allister, Wataru Endo, and Ryan Gravenberch, but it’s safe to say that signing Arthur to Liverpool was just one of those deals that didn’t work out.
