After losing to Everton in the cup, Burnley manager Vincent Kompany was careful to highlight the gap in Premier League quality.

Vincent Kompany feels Burnley’s Carabao Cup loss to Everton demonstrated the “huge” gap between the Premier League and the Championship.

Even if the Clarets are currently a top tier team, Kompany thinks they still have a way to go before catching up.

It comes after Sean Dyche’s team humiliated them for the fourth time in a row across all competitions, eliminating his previous team from contention.

James Tarkowksi, a former Claret, also scored as the Toffees won 3-0 at Goodison Park with relative ease.

“If I look back at how I was feeling after the Brentford game, I’ll never master the art of feeling good after a defeat, but I feel different than I did a week ago,” Kompany said in summarizing the loss.

“We mostly kept it lighthearted. We played well in the first half, but mistakes cost us, especially at this level.

“It’s not supposed to be easy when you get promoted; after all, you play in the Premier League.” Reaching that stage still requires work; the first year is never simple. That is a component of what we are going through right now.

“Lack of communication between phases, duels, and before you know it, a strong performance becomes something you search for more of.”

It’s just something you have to cope with and move on from. The most crucial game is the one after that.

In response to a question about whether the trip could be sped up, Kompany said, “You don’t accept it, absolutely not.” However, you must consider everything in context; otherwise, all of these ideas could drive you insane.

Was today’s performance subpar? Nope. However, there is a difference in these situations, and it is evident.

“It’s concerning if you don’t have faith in your team, which is completely untrue.

“I don’t appear to be as discouraged. Sure, I’m hurt, but I understand why. At the beginning of the season, I wouldn’t be stupid enough to assume you wouldn’t experience these moments before overcoming that obstacle.

“You look upwards after your first year, but for now, that’s just the way things are.”
