AC Milan given the green light to sign €47m rated striker

Newcastle United are no longer in the running to sign Everton forward Dominic Calvert-Lewin, according to reports, while AC Milan is also interested.

According to the Daily Mail, conversations between Newcastle and Everton over Calvert-Lewin had been underway in recent days, but the Magpies ‘have now elected to walk away’, deeming the £40 million (€47 million) asking price to be too high.

Furthermore, the newspaper believes that Everton would only have been willing to sell the English striker if they could get Yankuba Minteh, for whom they bid £30 million but Lyon are offering roughly £10 million more.

Calvert-Lewin may still leave the Toffees this summer because his current contract expires in only a year. Everton has offered him a new deal, but several other clubs are interested.

Chelsea initially shown interest but is now looking for younger players, while Manchester United is unlikely to meet Everton’s demands, according to the Mail. However, Milan has expressed interest in Calvert-Lewin as a possible replacement for Olivier Giroud.

The 27-year-old joined Everton from Sheffield United in August 2016, and he has 68 goals in 247 games in all competitions, including 11 England caps.
