A strong message is delivered by a Burnley star ahead of a vital Bournemouth six-pointer

Josh Cullen thinks Burnley’s six-pointer against Bournemouth this weekend is the ideal chance for them to turn things around.

The Clarets lost for the seventh time in just nine games at the beginning of the season last week after suffering a devastating 3-0 loss to Brentford.

This puts Vincent Kompany’s team in third place from the bottom, one point and one spot ahead of their opponents on Saturday, Bournemouth, who are still without a win this season.

Cullen hopes that he and his teammates would welcome this game, which feels like a very important one, instead of being afraid of it.

He told Clarets+, “Every game is important, but it’s a great opportunity for us to recover next week.”

“One benefit of football is that there’s always the next week and game to look forward to.”

“At this challenging time, we simply need to remain united as a community. The locker room is obviously not too happy with our performance [against Brentford], but we must continue to work as a team and do everything in our power, like we usually do, to win.”

“It’s football; there will always be highs and lows. It’s about attempting to maintain that perspective and having faith in your actions and what is best for us.”

“It’s as simple as that—we just have to keep going.”

Cullen acknowledges that Burnley’s performance against Brentford last Saturday was well below par.

The Clarets were fortunate to only be behind by one goal at halftime because of their particularly dismal play in the first half.

Cullen continued, “At the moment, we haven’t been quite good enough in key moments.”

We have to pick things up quickly, but we also need to stay together as a team and return the next week.

“The most important thing to remember is that without the fundamentals and the teamwork we require, we are nothing. What transpired in the first half is intolerable.”
