A Reporter Warns About One “Explosive” Browns Pair

Although Kevin Stefanski hasn’t ruled out any Cleveland Browns players for this Sunday’s game, he isn’t giving away a lot of information about who will start.

That includes an official statement regarding his starting quarterback and two wide receivers.

The player who looks to be most at risk of not recovering in time for Jacksonville is Amari Cooper (concussion).

However, Matt Wilson of SB Nation believes Jacksonville shouldn’t rule out another potential link in Cleveland’s offense (via Matt Wilson on Twitter).

Wilson believes that Cleveland supporters may now understand Andrew Berry’s decision to sign Marquise Goodwin.

With just three catches for 10 yards and two drops on 11 targets, Goodwin is having a poor season.

Although Goodwin’s stat line isn’t likely to cause defenses to drastically alter their game plans or coverage assignments, he may finally have a deep-ball quarterback with the Browns.

After a poor interception in Los Angeles, Joe Flacco is unlikely to change his tendency to target deep receivers. If Goodwin is healthy, Flacco may target him downfield just as frequently as Cooper or Elijah Moore.

When healthy, Deshaun Watson was eager to go deep, but he struggled with health for the majority of the season, and P.J. Wilson and Dorian Thompson-Robinson aren’t exactly renowned for their accuracy on long passes.

Goodwin is not likely to get lost in the system because Flacco found nine different receivers to get passes to last week.

The seasoned quarterback usually looks for a receiver behind the opposition before deciding to waste a pass.

As a result, Flacco gains popularity among the wide receivers and gives Goodwin his big break.
