A concerning element may prompt Birmingham City to sack Wayne Rooney

Birmingham City’s terrible run of form continued on Friday evening, with a 2-0 loss to Coventry City doing nothing to relieve pressure on Wayne Rooney.

With only five points from a possible 27 in his nine games in charge, the Blues are in danger of falling farther down the table in the coming weeks unless they can turn things around.

They are currently 17th in the table, having been sixth when Rooney’s predecessor John Eustace left, and it may only be a matter of time until the Manchester United legend is fired unless he can get more out of his present squad.

It was never going to be easy for the 38-year-old to adopt his approach and generate results immediately, especially given the difficult schedule he had during his first few months at St Andrew’s.

However, given how the Blues started the season, many fans anticipated them to get more points.

Losses to Middlesbrough and Southampton can be forgiven, but failing to take all three points at home against a managerless Rotherham United side left fans frustrated, and that frustration has only grown since their Friday night defeat at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
