A commited LB to Oregon received his All-American Bowl jersey

When Oregon pledge Brayden Platt, a linebacker from Yelm, Washington, received his All-American Bowl jersey, it fulfilled a goal for the four-star prospect.

“It means a lot to me, seeing it growing up, it being on TV and also seeing it within the FSP family (Ford Sports Performance),” stated Platt. “That told us the ultimate goal for high school is to be an All-American.”

For the first time since Platt was in media school, three Washington players from FSP—where Platt has played 7v7 and tackle—participated in the 2020 game.

“It was when Gee Scott, Sam Adams and Ayden Hector all played in it,” stated Platt.

Platt’s contribution to his team’s 14-0 record and 3A state championship last year was crucial for gaining recognition from the institution.

His decision to play at the Alamodome might result in additional.

“I hope it means a lot, being from Yelm,” Platt remarked. “I feel like it gives people faith that if they’re good enough and work hard enough they’ll get acknowledged.”

In addition to two of his FSP teammates, he is one of six Oregon commits participating in the game this year.

“I know JB (Jason Brown) and Papa (Isendre Ahfua) and then Kamar Mothudi, Aaron Flowers, Xadavien Sims, Dakoda Fields and Elijah Rushing from the Oregon class,” stated Platt.

It’s an added bonus to be joining Brown and Ahfua in the Lone Star State from the Evergreen State.

“I think it means a lot, especially it being Washington, we don’t get a whole lot of national love up here so it will be cool to represent our state this year in the game,” stated Platt.

Platt gave his college commitment to Oregon in September, and the Beavers’ 10-1 start to the 2023 campaign has impressed him.

“I think it is super impressive, with the guys that they’ve lost, NFL guys, it has been super impressive and they’ve stepped up and have a really good defense,” Platt remarked.

On the Ducks, Brian Michalowski, head coach Dan Lanning, defensive coordinator Tosh Lupoi, and Platt have been running point.

He attended the game against Colorado, but he won’t be at Oregon State on Friday because he and Yelm have their last practice before playing each other again in the 3A state semifinals on Saturday, which is a rematch of last year’s championship game.

Platt will finish his prep season and graduate in December, at which point he will enroll in January.

The junior Olympian and champion thrower is unsure if he will be able to compete in track this spring, but he plans to do so while attending Oregon.

“I know with January enrollment, I can’t do the indoor season but I’m not sure if I’m able to do outdoor, so it would either be this year or next year,” Platt stated.

The 6-2, 235-pound fighter, nevertheless, is intent on capturing a second consecutive state championship because Yelm is now enjoying a 26-game winning streak.

“It was a little rougher start with some injuries, but we’ve picked it up and it’s been a pretty good season so far, but we have two more games we need to win to make this season worth it,” Platt stated.

Platt, a four-star recruit according to the industry-generated 247Sports Composite Rankings, is listed as the No. 50 prospect overall, the No. 4 linebacker in the country, and the top recruit in Washington in 2024.
