Huddersfield Town considers a free agent following Aston Villa’s departure

Following his departure from Aston Villa, DJ Sturridge is being evaluated by Huddersfield Town, as their X account has verified.

The free agent is being eyed by Huddersfield Town. On Tuesday afternoon, the attacker participated for the Championship’s B team.

At the end of the previous season, Sturridge, 22, severed his connection with Aston Villa. The Premier League team decided not to offer him a new contract after his current one expired at the end of June.

Since then, he has been considering how to proceed in the game. He played a few minutes for the Terriers development squad in their 3-3 draw with Bolton Wanderers.

Sturridge may be considered by Huddersfield as a long-term solution for them at John Smith’s Stadium. If they decide to offer him a contract, he would be a reasonably risk-free addition on a free transfer.

The Terriers have not only been monitoring this forward in recent weeks. According to their official club website, they have also examined Stephen Padrao and Kallum Cesay. The latter is expected to play against Bolton once more.

Sturridge was a regular for the Midlands club at several junior levels after rising through the ranks of Aston Villa’s academy. Prior to moving up to their U23 squad, he competed for their U18 team.

But because they had so many excellent choices for a player in his position, he never played a senior role for the elite team, which is why he left Villa Park in the summer.

The youngster, whose trial spell’s duration is unknown, will be attempting to prove to Huddersfield what he can accomplish while looking for a new home.
