South Korean midfielder Paik Seung-ho is officially on Birmingham City’s January target list, according to Tony Mowbray.

This week, Paik was rumored to be leaving K-League team Jeonbuk Hyundai Motors to join St Andrew’s.Although Mowbray did not explicitly state that Paik will be the Blues’ second January window addition, he acknowledged that the 26-year-old is a player of interest.

When asked if he thought Paik would follow Andre Dozzell out the door, Mowbray answered, “To be honest, I am not anticipating anything! I have been in the game long enough to know better than to try to guess or criticize new players.

“He is on our radar, but this week we have probably watched thirty players who could play for this football club. I am not certain. I do not carry out the bargaining. Instead of trying to close agreements while I am sitting there, I attempt to mark the ones that I believe will actually benefit the football team and let other people continue with their business.

Some ideas are realized, while others are not. The numbers really elude me. I am not sure as I sit here whether we can close this deal or not, or if this deal depends on this closing. Other than anticipating Saturday and attempting to compete against a club that is without a doubt the top team in this division right now, I have no expectations.

Paik has played in Europe for SV Darmstadt 98, Girona, and Barcelona, which he joined at the age of 13. He is a 15-cap full international for his nation. He has played with Jeonbuk, which placed fourth in the K-League in 2023, for the last three seasons.
