During his Rose Bowl media availability on Friday, Kevin Steele praised Nick Saban.
In his most recent stay in Tuscaloosa, Steels is in his first year as Alabama’s defensive coordinator. He has previously coached under Saban and has known the Alabama head coach since ‘1985.’ Because of his connection with Saban, he was questioned how he has evolved over the years.
Steele responded to the topic by explaining where he believes Saban shines the most as a defensive mind.
“He’s the best that’s ever done it at taking and adjusting defenses,” Steele was quoted as saying. “He’s very good at it.” I don’t think he’s changed all that much. Obviously, there are some variations in the way he handles the team, but he’s always managed each club differently. He often says…every team is unique. He’s quite skilled at adjusting to new situations. It has always been like way. Personally, I believe he is the best at game planning and taking away what others do best.”
In the Rose Bowl, Saban and Steele will try to exploit Michigan’s offensive strengths.
