However, the squad has regularly found ways to win games, even when they had no business winning, and their hero recently has been 38-year-old quarterback Joe Flacco.
When they signed Flacco in November, he hadn’t played yet this season, but he has led the team to two straight victories.
Per SiriusXM NFL Radio, he said he got no calls from any other teams before joining the Browns, and he expressed his gratitude for being given another chance to play in the NFL.
Flacco led an underdog Baltimore Ravens squad to a Super Bowl victory over the San Francisco 49ers years ago, and while he never made the Pro Bowl, he established himself as a reliable quarterback for many years.
His stats in three games with the Browns haven’t been spectacular in certain aspects — he has a 57.9 percent completion rate and has thrown five interceptions — but he has 939 yards and seven throwing touchdowns.
Three of those interceptions occurred against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, a game the Browns were on the verge of losing when Chicago quarterback Justin Fields nearly connected on a last-second Hail Mary touchdown pass.
The Browns are currently in fifth place in the AFC, but they will have a somewhat challenging schedule to end the regular season, as they will play the Houston Texans, New York Jets, and Cincinnati Bengals.
