Hi, I’m a 17-year-old boy, and I’ve just completed my first progressive rock concept album based on an imaginary planet called Tadmor! It’s been a challenging yet exhilarating creative journey that allowed me to explore storytelling through music in a way I’ve always dreamed of. The album takes listeners on a sonic adventure through the landscapes, cultures, and mysteries of Tadmor. Each track serves as a chapter in a larger narrative, combining intricate melodies, dynamic shifts, and evocative lyrics to bring the planet and its stories to life.
The project reflects my deep passion for progressive rock—a genre that thrives on experimentation and ambitious compositions. I drew inspiration from iconic bands like Pink Floyd, Genesis, and Yes, as well as modern progressive acts. From odd time signatures to extended instrumental sections, I embraced the complexity that defines the genre while adding my personal touch to make it unique.
The album’s crown jewel is its final track, a 20-minute suite that ties together all the themes introduced throughout the record. This epic piece is divided into multiple movements, each representing a pivotal moment in Tadmor’s story. It starts with a gentle, atmospheric introduction, building into a crescendo of soaring guitar solos, intricate keyboard arrangements, and rhythmic twists. As the suite progresses, it takes listeners on an emotional rollercoaster, blending moments of calm introspection with explosive energy.
Creating this album taught me so much about songwriting, production, and perseverance. Since I recorded and produced the entire project myself, I had to learn the ins and outs of music software, mixing, and mastering. It was a steep learning curve, but seeing my vision come to life made every late night worth it.
What makes this album special to me is how it represents not just my musical growth but also my imagination. Tadmor is a world I’ve been dreaming about for years, and bringing it to life through music feels surreal. Sharing it with others is both exciting and nerve-wracking, but I hope it resonates with people who love music that tells a story and pushes creative boundaries.
