On Saturday, the Colts released their game-day inactives against the Steelers, with a few surprises.

On Saturday evening (4:30 p.m. EST, NFL Network), the Indianapolis Colts confirmed the following players would be inactive against the Pittsburgh Steelers:

No surprises there, as running back Jonathan Taylor, right tackle Braden Smith, and linebacker Segun Olubi were all declared out to open the weekend.

The Colts did, however, waive rookie defensive lineman Adetomiwa Adebawore, cornerback Tony Brown, defensive end Isaiah Land, and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie.

Brown is intriguing not so much for his cornerback ability (since rookie JuJu Brents is active today and will likely start or at least get significant playing time), but for his added special teams skill. Similarly, slot receiver Isaiah McKenzie provides special teams return ability (albeit he did botch a punt return last week) as well as extra wide receiver depth.

Both of their inclusions on today’s healthy scratch list are quite surprising.
