While the Cowboys have made playing consecutive Thursday games a regular occurrence, Seattle is playing games one after the other for the first time. After hosting the Thanksgiving game seven times since 2014, Dallas has played on Thursday. Additionally, the Cowboys’ planned Thursday post-Thanksgiving 2020 game had to be rescheduled due to other games having to be postponed due to COVID-19 concerns.
Veteran Seattle linebacker Bobby Wagner said that in the few days that followed the 49ers defeat, the holiday added yet another layer of complexity to the healing process.
“This week is a holiday week; you work on the weekends, and certain locations are closed if you wish to use them. Weekend schedules differ from weekday schedules, according to Wagner. Thus, in my opinion, it’s necessary to learn how to manage your time as a professional, and it’s our responsibility to be prepared for games.
Carroll stated that he thinks Seattle’s performance will benefit from preparation and having the rhythm of a full week. Additionally, he stated that it should help quarterback Geno Smith, who was limited in the amount of reps he performed during practice last week due to a right arm injury. Carroll stated that Smith had no more problems following the 49ers game.
Browns lose another QB
In the third quarter of the Browns’ defeat, quarterback Adrian Thompson-Robinson of Cleveland was hit hard by Denver linebacker Baron Browning, resulting in a head injury that required evaluation.

As Thompson-Robinson released a pass, he took a hit just below his chin. On the play, Browning was called for roughing the passer. After receiving treatment from team medical staff on the field, the rookie for the Browns stood up and made his way to the sideline by himself.
P.J. Walker replaced Thompson-Robinson. Cleveland has already lost starting QB Deshaun Watson to a season-ending shoulder injury.
With 22 seconds remaining in the third quarter and trailing 17–12, the Browns were faced with a third-and–12 at their own 23-yard line when Thompson–Robinson was injured. When Browning moved in and put his shoulder firmly in Thompson-Robinson’s upper chest, he was searching for an opening receiver.
Thompson-Robinson’s pass fell incomplete and he lay on the turf in obvious distress.
Mayfield, Bucs can’t recover
Baker Mayfield came out swinging on Tampa Bay’s first series in Indianapolis, but a right ankle injury changed everything.
Mayfield bravely returned after witnessing the Buccaneers blow a rare opportunity for a touchdown on the first possession. Despite not looking as effective or efficient after the injury, he returned to the field and missed just two offensive snaps in an attempt to help the Bucs overcome an early 14-point deficit.
And Mayfield already knows that might not change for at least a few more days.
“Ankle stuff is really not fun,” he remarked following Indianapolis’ 27-20 defeat. I need to watch the movie because I’m not really sure what happened precisely. I wasn’t feeling well, but I had [trainer] Bobby [Slater and the team wrap me up as tightly as they could again. But tomorrow is going to be pretty painful.

On first-and-goal from the Colts 1-yard line, the Bucs (4-7) called a quarterback keeper, which resulted in Mayfield’s injury. The injured Mayfield remained on the ground as the players got up, seemingly oblivious to the fact that Colts defensive end DeForest Buckner’s knee appeared to have forced Mayfield’s leg awkwardly toward the ground.
It didn’t take long for things to go awry.
Before Kyle Trask ever took a snap, offensive lineman Aaron Stinnie was called for a false start. When play got back underway, Chris Godwin was unable to bring both of his feet inbounds on a potential touchdown reception after Rachaad White was stopped for a 2-yard gain.
Instead, the Bucs settled for a field goal and a 3-0 lead — and that was just the start.
When Mayfield came back, linebacker Ronnie Harrison Jr. picked him off on his second pass.Indy took a 10-3 lead late in the first quarter after converting a turnover into the first of Jonathan Taylor’s two touchdown runs in just four plays.
Mayfield went 20 of 30 for 199 yards, two touchdowns, and the interception in the game after completing seven of his first nine throws for 62 yards. With 89 seconds remaining, he fumbled away to give the Colts the victory. The ankle injury also made it difficult for him to avoid the Colts’ relentless pressure, which led to an offensive line that had only surrendered 20 sacks all season long allowing a season-high six sacks.
Marathon men
◅ The Eagles defeated the Bills, and Brandon Graham, a defensive end for Philadelphia, played in his 189th career regular-season game, setting a team record. With 188 games, former Eagles kicker David Akers held the record. Defensive tackle Fletcher Cox made his 183rd appearance for the Eagles, while center Jason Kelce played in his 187th game.
In the 2010 draft, Philadelphia selected the 35-year-old Graham in the first round. Due to an Achilles tendon tear, he missed the majority of the 2022 season; however, he returned to record a career-high 11 sacks. Graham’s 72 career sacks rank him fourth in club history.
With 2:21 remaining in the fourth quarter of the 2018 Super Bowl, he successfully stripped Tom Brady, enabling the Eagles to win 41–33.
A fire alarm went off in the NFL Network building, which is situated across the street from SoFi Stadium in the Hollywood Park complex, on Sunday, interrupting the NFL RedZone Channel’s late afternoon game broadcast. The show’s host, Scott Hanson, notified the audience that his production team had to leave the studio.
According to an NFL Network representative, there was a fictitious alarm at the studio. Before Hanson and his team could briefly return to the studio, RedZone continued to air the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Buffalo Bills game.
◅ Las Vegas Raiders reserve safety Roderic Teamer was not available for Sunday’s home game against Kansas City after being arrested on Saturday night for driving while intoxicated and speeding, both misdemeanor offenses.
