Ipswich overcame the odds by winning their first league game of the season last Saturday, but the match against Manchester United will be a different test.

Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna has stated that he expects three injured players to return following the forthcoming international break. This follows their recent triumph over Tottenham, which has injected new life into their Premier League season.

The weekend’s trip to north London came too soon for crucial defensive combination Axel Tuanzebe, who is recovering from hand surgery, Jacob Greaves (hamstring), and midfielder Jack Taylor (hamstring). However, all three are making steady progress in their recovery.

As the international break approaches, here’s an update on their injury list and projected return dates:

Chiedozie Ogbene

The Irish winger tore his Achilles and is closing in on a return after undergoing surgery in the summer. Manager McKenna said of his recovery: “Chiedozie had surgery yesterday. It was an Achilles tear. It’s unlikely he’ll play much, if any, football this season. We’ll be looking at preparing for next season.”

Nathan Broadhead

There is little doubt that the forward has been missed, but the good news is that he’s almost back and could be involved after the international break. McKenna said: “He will remain with Town during the international break as he deals with a minor groin issue.”

Wesley Burns

The winger has been sidelined due to a knock, but there is a chance he could return after the break, with a potential return date of 24/11/2024.
