Tottenham are exploring a January transfer window move for Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, who could fetch over €40 million and is also on the radar of other major teams.

According to sources close to the situation, Spurs are currently leading the race for Delap, but the 21-year-old’s impressive form has piqued the interest of other top Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Newcastle United, Aston Villa, and his former club Manchester City.

Delap grew up primarily through Derby County’s youth, although he also spent five years at Manchester City, making six appearances and scoring one goal for the main team while also going out on loan several times.

Nonetheless, Delap has made significant progress in recent years, and Tottenham are particularly interested in signing him, with Ipswich expected to consider offers for the England Under-21 international in January.

Liam Delap transfer: Tottenham to make another signing up front?

Tottenham signed Dominic Solanke in the summer to provide more of a goal threat up front, but he’s been quite lackluster thus far.

Solanke sparkled for Bournemouth last season, but has only three goals in his first eight games for Spurs, so Ange Postecoglou could be wise to bring in someone like Delap as a backup.

THFC sold Harry Kane over a year and a half ago, and it was never going to be simple to replace him, but it may be worthwhile to invest in a brilliant young English player like Delap, who resembles a young Kane.

It will be fascinating to watch whether other clubs, like as Arsenal and Newcastle, increase their interest in Delap in the near future, but for the time being, Tottenham’s interest appears to be the most concrete.
