Ipswich Town are still interested in recruiting a £200,000-per-week player in January, and he is now looking to leave his current club.

Ipswich Town still searching for first Premier League win

The Tractor Boys and Kieran McKenna are still looking for their first Premier League victory of the 2024/25 season, despite drawing more games than losing following back-to-back promotions in recent years.

Ipswich has lost to Liverpool, Manchester City, and West Ham, while Aston Villa, Southampton, Brighton, and Fulham have all earned points. McKenna’s side is a point above the relegation zone after seven games, with a lot of summer arrivals still fitting in at Portman Road.

Forward Liam Delap has impressed in recent weeks, scoring his first goal for the club against Fulham, two against Aston Villa, and third in a loss to West Ham before the international break.

He may be Ipswich’s best summer signing from Manchester City, with McKenna complimenting Delap’s start at Portman Road. “Liam has had an excellent start. He is a youthful striker who has had three loans in the Championship and is still figuring his way around the game.

“His body has improved significantly over the previous year, which I believe is vital for a forward player competing in the Premier League and even the Championship. He is progressing well.

McKenna continued, “For 21 years of age, his start in the Premier League is quite encouraging. But it’s just been a few games, and he realizes he still has a long way to go and plenty of things to work on. “He has made some really good first steps, though.”

Now it appears that Ipswich Town are interested in a player from the same agency as Delap.

Ipswich Town still keen on signing Ben Chilwell after Chelsea update

Chelsea left back Ben Chilwell was vaguely associated with a transfer to Portman Road in 2025 last month, and journalist Simon Phillips has shared a new update in which the Tractor Boys are mentioned once more.

He has stated that Chilwell now wishes to leave Chelsea, with Ipswich Town among those interested in a January transfer, along with a host of other Premier League clubs and teams from Spain and Italy.

“Ben Chilwell now wants out because he wants to play football and save his international career, and Chelsea also want him gone.

“Clubs are interested in Chilwell still, but at the moment there has been no serious approaches. However, SPTC sources have heard that Fulham, Crystal Palace, Ipswich, and Manchester United are the most interested clubs from the Premier League.

“Chilwell has also had interest and agent approaches from clubs in La Liga and Serie A. Chelsea are encouraging clubs to come forward for Chilwell by making them aware of his availability. They have spoken to a number of clubs for January already.”

The left-back, who earns £200,000 a week at Stamford Bridge, is represented by the same agent as Delap, Kalvin Phillips, Conor Chaplin, Harry Clarke, and Wes Burns, so a move could be worth watching in the coming months.
