Derby County head coach Paul Warne revealed that Callum Elder will miss the next three to four games due to a groin issue.

Elder was forced off in the 1-0 defeat at Sheffield United last Saturday and had to be substituted late in the Championship match at Bramall Lane. The Australian, who has had a strong start to the season, underwent a scan this week, but the damage is not as severe as initially feared.

However, he is not scheduled to return until after the international break, when Derby will hope he can continue where he left off following some good performances at left-back.

Warne gave an update ahead of the weekend’s game against Norwich (12.30pm) and was asked if Elder will be eligible to play the Canaries. And I’m not going to become an English Rugby Union coach and announce my starting XI.

“But in the same manner, I’d be lying for no reason. He won’t be available for the next three or four games. He tweaked his groin and will be out.
