Following a Week 3 victory for the Indianapolis Colts, a former cornerback signed with the Chicago Bears.

The Indianapolis Colts earned their first victory of the 2024 season, defeating the Chicago Bears 21-16 at home. The visiting Bears needed defensive backs on their practice squad, so they signed Ameer Speed, a former Colts and New England Patriots cornerback. Aaron Wilson, an NFL insider, had the scoop.

Speed appeared in eight Colts games in 2023, recording six tackles, one of which was for a loss. Speed possesses quickness, athleticism, and tenacity at cornerback, and he will provide Chicago wide receivers with excellent looks in practice. Injuries are unavoidable in the NFL, so there is always the possibility of making the 53-man roster.

Gregory Junior, David Long, and rookie Jaylin Simpson are currently the Colts’ practice squad cornerbacks after being released on September 17th. Given Indianapolis’ defense’s lack of depth at cornerback, these three must be prepared to step up at any time.

The Colts are 1-2 and will aim for their second consecutive home win against the undefeated (3-0) Pittsburgh Steelers on Sunday. Anthony Richardson vs Justin Fields will be an exciting quarterback duel, as will the coaching clash between Shane Steichen and Mike Tomlin. We’ll see who comes out on top in a pivotal Week 4 game.
