Nottingham Forest have recently done an excellent job at recruiting wingers.

The £3 million transfer of Callum Hudson-Odoi from Chelsea appears to be even more of a steal with each passing week, while Newcastle’s £35 million move for Anthony Elanga, who cost the Garibaldi only £15 million, demonstrates that it was also a wise decision.

Nottingham Forest is trying to provide depth behind the current duo by signing one of Spain’s top players.

Nottingham Forest want Assane Diao

According to Estadio Deportivo in Spain, Nottingham Forest want to sign Assane Diao.

According to the Spanish news site, Real Betis were close to selling the Spain U21 international to Feyenoord for €11 million (£9 million) during the summer transfer window, with the price accepted, but the forward ultimately decided not to move.

Diao was hailed as one of La Liga’s most promising young players not long ago, but he has slid down the pecking order under Manuel Pellegrini due to the additions of other forwards such as Vitor Roque, making only one league start this season.

Nonetheless, the 19-year-old still has enormous potential, and Nottingham Forest is eager to see him achieve it at the City Ground.

Nuno Espirito Santo could sign Wilfried Zaha 2.0

Diao has yet to become a household name in football, therefore a comparison to a more well-known player may be helpful.

According to Football Talent Scout, the teenager plays similarly to Wilfried Zaha, who created a name for himself in the Premier League with Crystal Palace, scoring 68 goals.

Diao is described by Football Talent Scout as a “explosive and fast winger” with “incredible acceleration”; he can also play centrally, thus Nuno Espirito Santo might get a versatile forward who can interchange with Elanga and Hudson-Odoi.

Keep an eye on this situation, as a deal might happen in January if the Real Betis No.38 is still unable to break into Pellegrini’s starting lineup.
