Kendel Dolby, an Oklahoma senior defensive back, dislocated his right ankle in the second quarter of Saturday night’s 25-15 loss to Tennessee and will require surgery, according to coach Brent Venables.

Dolby collided with Tennessee tackle John Campbell Jr. at 8:58 in the first half. His right leg bent awkwardly beneath him, and he grasped for it.

Dolby’s leg was placed in an air cast, and he was encircled by the entire Oklahoma defense before being removed from the game.

Dolby, a junior college transfer who arrived at Oklahoma last season, was named honorable mention All-Big 12 last year after recording 49 tackles.

He recorded seven tackles this season as of Saturday, after missing last week’s game against Tulane due to a concussion. He made three tackles versus Tennessee before suffering the injury.

Nic Anderson, the Sooners’ wide receiver, has been sidelined with an unexplained ailment. He started Saturday’s game in uniform, then returned to the locker room and emerged in street clothes.

Venables stated after the game that Anderson had re-strained his quad.

Oklahoma was already struggling at the receiver position, with Jayden Gibson out for the season due to a knee injury and Jalil Farooq out with a fractured foot sustained in the season opener against Temple.
