Ipswich Town manager Kieran McKenna admits he was impressed by Tyler Dibling on Saturday.

Dibling scored his first Premier League goal for Southampton in the 1–1 draw.

McKenna stated, “He hasn’t played much, but his quality is obvious; it’s easy to see what he does well.

“He’s a very young player, I must say, and we hadn’t seen much of him prior to the preseason games that we’ve been watching and the early games.

“What an exciting talent, he took his goal well today and I’m sure he’ll go on and have a good career.”

McKenna stated about their own young winger, Omari Hutchinson, “He’s doing well.”

“There’s a lot of effort behind it; he’s working really hard and performing well. And I believe there is still more to come.

“There’s a lot of, maybe responsibility is the wrong term, but he and Liam (Delap) are two extremely young players to be a number nine and a number ten in a Premier League team.

“Neither of them were perfect tonight, nor will they be, but they’re two players with excellent qualities who are attempting to grow into the burden of leading a club at this level.

“Omari has had a strong start to the season; he contributes well in all phases and is a handful for any team.

“Of course, the next steps for him now, and I believe for the team as a whole, are to improve our execution in big moments, whether in possession phases or transitions, so that we can create more clear-cut opportunities.”

“He’s doing very, very well and he’s showing he can already cause a lot of problems at this level.”
