Chris Davies was speaking following Birmingham City’s 2-0 victory over Rotherham United.

Chris Davies will not stop celebrating with Birmingham City fans after fist-pumping in the away end for the fourth time this season.

Blues defeated Rotherham United 2-0 on Saturday, extending their perfect start to the League One season. The victory at the New York Stadium was also the fourth consecutive away from St Andrews in all competitions.

Davies was overjoyed after equaling the Blues’ road win total for the entire season, and he approached the away end for the now-customary celebration.

“From my point of view, we have to enjoy it,” he told me. “I know this was a ground the club came to near the conclusion of last season and didn’t achieve the desired outcome, so why not celebrate?

“They have suffered long enough. In my opinion, when we win, we should celebrate together.

“We had to earn that today, and we need to prove it again in the next game. It was great to rejoice with the travelling supporters who were so noisy at the finish and had supported us throughout the game.”

The Blues’ defensive stability on set pieces proved crucial in their victory over the Millers. Rotherham United is known for having one of League One’s strongest and most direct teams, but the Blues held their own.

Davies added, “That was very satisfying. We want to keep that back door sealed at all times, and having a clean sheet is a huge plus.

“Bailey (Peacock-Farrell) performed admirably on corners, with a strong presence and conviction. We had good organisation and timing in our defence, and I thought we looked strong.”
