Marquise “Hollywood” Brown, a Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver, was released from the hospital on Sunday after sustaining a sternoclavicular joint dislocation on Saturday, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

According to Schefter, Brown’s availability for the Chiefs’ regular season opener on September 5 is “in question”.

Chiefs head coach Andy Reid linked the injury to Tyreek Hill’s collarbone injury suffered while playing for the Chiefs in 2019. Jordan Foote reported for Sports Illustrated.

Hill suffered the injury in Week 1 of the 2019 season and missed four regular-season games before returning just over a month later.

“I think he’ll miss some time,” Reid said of Brown Saturday night, according to Foote. “We’ll just see where it is. We’re sort of going through it right now. We’ll learn more later here.”

Brown seemed to sustain the injury on the Chiefs’ first play in Saturday’s preseason opener against the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The receiver received an 11-yard pass from Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes before being knocked to the ground by CB Montaric Brown.

Brown received attention on the sideline following the play before departing the game, according to ESPN’s Adam Teicher.

This offseason, the Chiefs added Brown in free agency in the hopes of adding depth to their wide receiving corps around Mahomes. If Brown is forced to miss any time, the Chiefs may have to rely on 2024 first-round selection Xavier Worthy to fill his role.

Brown, who is entering his sixth NFL season, had 51 receptions for 574 yards and four touchdowns in 14 starts with the Arizona Cardinals last season.
