Despite being written off early in the season, Derby County star Nathaniel Mendez-Laing has stated that he has never doubted his team’s ability to succeed the rest of the way.
The Rams were promoted from League One last season and have started well in the Championship.
Paul Warne’s team has won three of their first five league matches this season and lost the other two.
Mendez-Laing believes the Rams have a lot of enthusiasm and a genuine desire to accomplish something great this season.
The seasoned Rams forward stated that, despite being written off after their opening-day loss to Blackburn Rovers, he has no doubts about his team’s potential.
“Not for a second did I doubt what we could accomplish this season,” the 32-year-old forward told Rams TV.
“I believe a lot of people wrote us off early on, particularly after the Blackburn game.
“But I know what we have there—a lot of fire and ambition.
“I am really pleased with the start and we are picking up some momentum, hopefully, it continues.”
On Saturday, the Rams will face one of the promotion fancies, Sheffield United, away at Bramall Lane.
