David Beckham was quite impressed by the atmosphere at St Andrew’s Stadium during Birmingham City’s 3-1 victory over Wrexham.

On Monday night, the renowned former England international joined Tom Brady in the stands, accompanied by a close friend who owns a minority investment in Blues.

Beckham’s visit sent shockwaves through Birmingham, where fans couldn’t believe he’d made the trek to attend a League One game. The former Manchester United and Real Madrid midfielder thoroughly enjoyed his visit and found it worthwhile.

Beckham told CBS Sports Golazo that the game was “great last night.” Do you know what? The vibe was incredible. You don’t really understand, and I haven’t seen an atmosphere like that in a long time, with Birmingham and Wrexham fans being great.”

With 27,980 people jammed inside St Andrew’s, there was hardly a quiet moment. It was chaos in the away end when Jack Marriott gave Wrexham an early lead, followed by pure chaos for all three Blues goals, two of which were scored by Jay Stansfield and the other a cracker from Tomoki Iwata.

Beckham not only soaked up the atmosphere, but he also had some humorous explanations for Brady, who didn’t comprehend some of the shouts.

“Tom was sat next to me and he was like, ‘the atmosphere is amazing but what are they singing?’, and I was like, ‘you want to know exactly what they’re singing about your team and what your team are singing about Wrexham?’, so I told him and he found it very funny.”

Kate Scott, host of CBS Sports Golazo, asked Beckham if he could repeat the chants, to which he answered “not on this show”.
